The Newburyport District Court is a district court located in Essex County, Massachusetts that services civil and criminal cases for the towns of Amesbury, Merrimac, Newbury, Newburyport, Rowley, Salisbury and West Newbury.  The court is at the Route 1 traffic circle in Newburyport at 188 State Road, Newburyport, MA 01950 with the main number for the court being (978) 462-2652.  The Essex county District Attorney's Office is responsible for the criminal prosecution of all cases appearing in the Newburyport District Court and range from theft, domestic violence and drunk driving cases. 

The Court is open Monday thru Friday and Monday thru Thursday will hear cases that are set for jury trials.  Because of geography that the Newburyport District Court covers it handles a large number of DUI/OUI/DWI/.Drunk Driving cases and Domestic Violence cases a year and has a reputation for being very tough on these types of cases.
